Beaverkill River Fishing Report

One of the most famous rivers in American fly fishing, the beaverkill was familiar angling territory for some of the sports' early pioneers. Today it remains a gorgeous freestone river of riffles and pools, with strong hatches of mayflies, caddis, and stoneflies. The beaverkill runs from its headwaters in the Catskill mountains, before emptying into the East Branch of the Delaware 44 miles later. The upper reaches hold brook trout while brown trout and wild rainbows reside in much of the rest of the river. In terms of quality angling, hitting the hatches right on the Beaverkill is about as good as it gets.
