Beginning at the Saco lake in Crawford Notch, NH, the Saco river flows southeast through Conway before crossing into Fryeburg Maine. The upper reaches of the Saco are clear freestone waters, and boast excellent dry fly fishing, particularly in June during the famous gray drake spinner fall. As it proceeds along its southeasterly course through Maine, the river slows before emptying into the Saco bay at Biddeford. Depending on the time of year and the flow, it can offer some excellent fishing as well.
