Northeast Fishing Report: 11/20/20
Greetings Compleat Anglers! Fresh rain has created superb conditions on the Ontario Tributaries and a fresh push of fish has been surging up most rivers. Perfect timing if you were there this past week and the conditions should continue to hold a little longer too. On our local trout waters it is pretty much a nymph game now though relatively mild temps have provided nice pockets of hatches here and there. And in Long Island Sound anglers are still reporting excellent bass fishing, even as things have started to tail off further to the east. As always read on for the details!

Northeast Fishing Report: 11/13/2020
Greetings Compleat Anglers! The saltwater fishing has remained hot in our area and anglers have reported lots of bass when the conditions are right. Montauk, too, continues to remain a hotspot, with plenty of action on the fly. I ventured up to the Salmon river this week and our timing was perfect, no small thing given the up and down conditions so far this season. The action was amazing though with lots of steelhead, salmon, and browns in the mix. As always read on for the details!

Northeast Fishing Report: 10/30/2020
Greetings Compleat Anglers! Well the rain finally arrived and most rivers have seen nice big bumps of water. Of course we anglers are a choosy bunch, so we want some water just not too much! The impact the rain has had varies a bit by the river so check out the details below for whichever you are headed off too! For those saltwater anglers closest to us here in Connecticut the saltwater fishing has been fantastic - finally, after all that waiting! We even had anglers with reports of hardtails this week along with prevalent (and sometimes sizable) bass. It's been great. As always read on for the details!

Northeast Fishing Report: 10/23/2020
Greetings Compleat Anglers! While most trout rivers in New York are shut down at this point, our local streams have received a fresh shot of stocked fish, including the annual broodstock atlantic salmon stocking. Be mindful of wild spawning fish, but otherwise there should be plenty of good fishing to be had. The Housatonic has been a go-to recently and should be at the top of your list. The Fall Run is also here in full effect and we are now facing some of the best bass fishing of the season. Northeast Fishing Report: 10/16/2020
Greetings Compleat Anglers! Rain has helped a bit on many of the rivers we know and love. From our local streams up to the Ontario Tribs, the action has been pretty good, with angler reporting the fresh shot of rain making the fish more active. Just keep in mind that some fish are heading into their spawn, so please be respectful of that when you are on the water. In the salt, the False Albacore season is largely winding down and it was pretty hit-or-miss depending on location. However the striper action has been fantastic of late and likely will continue to stay so in the weeks ahead. Read on for details...

Northeast Fishing Report: 10/9/2020
Greetings Compleat Anglers! The angling was a mixed bag this past week, with tough conditions in some places but still plenty of action out there. Besides a crazy fix to the Cannonsville Reservoir which resulted in virtually no river flow for a full day, most anglers had pretty good conditions on the water. And certain areas, particularly Montauk, have been absolutely lights out for the saltwater crowd. Keep an eye on the forecast but we should have some pretty good fishing over the next two weeks. Northeast Fishing Report: 10/2/20
The first weekend in October is looking phenomenal for fly anglers across the Northeast. Whether you are fishing fresh or salt, targeting trout or False Albacore, the fly fishing should be spectacular. With a recent band of storms that hit the Northern states, much needed precipitation fell and raised the water in our rivers. The levels are looking great for the weekend and the fishing should be nothing short of awesome.

Greetings Compleat Anglers! The weather this week was a major curveball for most anglers who were itching to be out on the water. All but the most intrepid of us were waiting things out. And now, of course, the question is what the fishing will be like thanks to the shake up. Hard to say, but we will know soon enough. While we wait on the Albies, the striper fishing has been very strong, with cooler water temps making fish active and frequently close in to shore. Exciting times! Northeast Fishing Report: 9/18/2020
Greetings Compleat Anglers! The fall fishing season is in mid-stride at this point and things have really picked up, almost on all fronts. Cooler water temps have opened up some options for trout anglers, the Ontario tribs are now in play for salmon and steelhead, and the saltwater fishing has picked up in a big way. We've had some excellent striper fishing this past week, along with a healthy mix of Bonito and Albies, depending on where you are. The big bogie this week will be the weather, which has been finicky already. Fingers crossed thatHurricanes Sally and Teddy don't make the conditions too challenging. Northeast Fishing Report: 9/11/2020
Greetings Compleat Anglers! The fall fishing really started to pick up this past week with great reports from guides and anglers here in Connecticut all the way out to Cape Cod and the Islands. The Albies have come in strong around Rhode Island and anglers who were out there has exceptional fishing. It's not just Albies either. The overall scene is picking up too, with more striper action and Bonito, along with Blues and (still) the occasional Mack. It's the action we've been waiting for! Read on for details...

Greetings Compleat Anglers! Remnants of Laura notwithstanding, the conditions just keep getting better and better out there. Though the fishing epicenter still lies to the east - Cape Cod and the Islands in particular - all signs point to a steady buildup to that great fall bite. The fish are more active, the hardtails are a regular sighting in many places, and even the odd Albie has been reported here and there.
