Northeast Fishing Report: 6/28/19
Well Compleat Anglers, here's our last report for the month of June. The fishing has remained excellent across much of the Northeast, more so than usual thanks to the cooler spring and plenty of bait found out in the sound. We don't know how long it will last, so it's a good time to get out there and make the most of it. You never know when things will start to get challenging. Northeast Fishing Report: 6/21/19
Greetings Compleat Anglers! Well the beat goes on here in the Northeast, in terms of quality fishing and a little rain both. No, we haven't had crazy rain like we did this spring, but we've had enough to make trout anglers keep an eye on the flow conditions. That said, the fishing conditions, with the exception of some of the smaller stockie streams, continues to be really strong, and saltwater anglers also had very strong action this week. Northeast Fishing Report: 6/14/19
Greetings Compleat Anglers, welcome to this week's report! The good news is that not much has changed since last week and conditions are still very good for fresh and saltwater anglers alike. Schoolies have been plentiful from New York all the way up through southern Maine, and rivers are in that great sweet spot with reasonable flows, attractive water temps, and pleasant weather. Northeast Fishing Report: 6/7/19
Well the fishing has stayed strong in the northeast over the last week. A few rivers, especially some of those prone to higher pressure, have seen a lot of anglers over the last stretch but that's to be expected when the fishing is good. Best of all the saltwater fishing has only gotten stronger with good numbers of stripers up and down the coast and anglers seeing plenty of action. Northeast Fishing Report: 5/23/19
Well Memorial Day Weekend is looking like it should give us some fantastic fishing weather across the Northeast, with a little cloud cover and temps in the mid-to-upper 70’s through Monday. You can’t ask for much more than that, especially after the cool, wet spring we’ve had thus far. It should make for some excellent fishing - if you don’t already have plans to get out there you should!

Northeast Fishing Report: 5/17/19
Well folks, the roundup this week is fairly similar to last weeks. All of the pieces are in place to usher in what is the best part of the fly fishing year. The migration is on, the saltwater action is in full swing, and in most places the rivers are in that “just right” zone with decent flows and fish-friendly temperatures. All we need now is for the weather to warm up and actually, you know, feel like spring! If it does - when it does - we expect the angling to be fantastic throughout the region. Already here in Connecticut and in the Catskills the fishing has been really really good on rivers where the flows have settled, and that trend should roll northward as the weather improves.
Northeast Fishing Report: 5/9/19
Well we’ve finally had a few nice weather days in the Northeast, which has given anglers a chance to get out there without braving rain and high flows. It’s about time! For trout fisherman, many rivers have settled into more reasonable flows and while the hatches aren’t quite in top form yet, we’re seeing some early hatches start to kick into gear. On the salt, stripers continue to make their way north with larger fish coming along behind them. The action should continue to pick up especially as water temps climb, so keep your eyes peeled.

Northeast Fishing Report: 5/3/19
Well the story this week in the Northeast was a combination of good and so-so, depending on what you fish for. Recent rain continued to make for high flows and fickle conditions for trout anglers in most areas of the Northeast. Conditions changed rapidly which made timing the name of the game. On the other hand, the striper bite is on! Schoolies have been prevalent from New Jersey up through Cape Cod, and migratory fish have been found throughout southern New England. If stripers are your thing, start heading for the beaches, birds, estuaries and flats.

Well, we’ve had a temporary reprieve from the rain, and some cloudy weather to tempt the bugs up from the depths. Our Catskill rivers are still running high, but they are clear. We’re in that time of year where every day is different and from one day to the next on the same river, you can feel like you’ve somehow detoured to a different river.

The Northeast Fly Fishing Report: 4/26/19
Well the theme this week is that the fishing has generally improved despite another few blasts of rain and spiky water levels. Areas that were blown out and unfishable last week have been producing trout this week, as water levels subside the fishing should only get better. In the salt, signs of migratory fish are showing up in New Jersey, and we’ve seen good and growing schoolie action throughout southern New England. While the conditions looking better, the best is yet to come - keep an eye on those gauges and get ready for prime time!
