Northeast Fishing Report: 6/18/20

Northeast Fishing Report: 6/18/20

by Patrick Fowler June 18, 2020

The fishing has been very good overall this past week. Some rivers, such as the Housey, could use a shot of rain to freshen them up a bit, but trout anglers are still finding plenty of action and with strong hatches for the most part. Saltwater fishing has also been good with customers and friends reporting plenty of schoolies, shots at trophy fish, and cruising blues. As always, you may have to search a bit to find fish but if you do - game on. Read on for all the details!

The trout fishing is starting to consolidate a bit, and flows have been uneven across the Northeast. So keep an eye on the forecast and, if you haven't already, a closer eye on the water temps. The big striped bass have definitely moved into the sound and we've been hearing reports of big fish and blues in many locations. It's not just a schoolie game anymore, so get out there!

Our local stockie streams are winding down, but the trout fishing on our bigger rivers has been exceptional. Great temps, lots of bugs, and perfect flows have produced great fishing with anglershere at the shop reporting some fantastic days. And the big post-spawn stripers are starting to show up too, making their way north and just starting to edge into the sound. Read on for details!

The trout season is in full swing and anglers are reporting excellent fishing on many rivers. Temps are in the sweet spot, the hatches have been reliable, and there are options aplenty. Just make sure to get to the good spots early if you don't want a crowd! In other good news, some of the big post-spawn stripers have finally moved in and are on their way North, hungry and ready for action. It won't be long before that shot at a monster fish is a realistic prospect. Read on for the details!

The trout season is in full swing and the hatches on some rivers are just coming into their own, while on others we're already transitioning from Hendricksons on to the next flurry of bugs. But the temps are right about where the fish like them, so keep an eye on the flows and the crowds, and get out there!

The trout fishing is picking up, with dry fly fishing finally kicking into gear especially during those windows of warmer temperatures. Many anglers in the region have been switching out their nymphs and streamer boxes for dry flies and it still looks as though the best conditions are yet to come. The forecast looks good for this weekend into next week, so it's a great time to get out there. Read on for the details!

Northeast Fishing Report: 5/7/20

Greetings Compleat Anglers! We're still in a bit of a holding pattern as the cooler spring weather continues but as holding patterns go it's not a bad one to be in. The Hendys are definitely coming off on many trout streams and once the water temps climb a tick, things should really go off. Anglers are catching plenty of trout right now. In the salt, the bass are hungry and even though it's mostly schoolies at this point, the larger migratory fish should be here in a few weeks. So stay tuned and read on for details!

Northeast Fishing Report: 4/30/20

by Patrick Fowler April 29, 2020

Continued rain and cooler temps continues to make the trout fishing a little inconsistent, but the big news this week is that the Hendricksons are starting to show up. Once we get a window of nice warm weather they should start coming off in earnest. Dry fly anglers, start your engines! On the salt, the bass have moved out from the rivermouths, so while the fishing is still good it's less concentrated. It's time to try out some different spots and spread out a little too. There were some tough conditions this past week, with plenty of wind and rain, but there are definitely stripers around and they are eating! If you timed it right and kept an eye on the weather and tide charts, you could really find some exceptional early season fishing. On the freshwater front, the fishing continues to be solid, and we're just on the verge of some excellent hatches. Once the water levels recede a bit, we should be in business. Read on for details!
